My name is Dr. Erik Diez. As a specialist veterinarian for small animals with a focus on imaging and orthopaedics — and as an approved GRSK assessor — I support veterinarians, therapists and pet owners with well-founded second opinions.
From a family of veterinarians
Veterinary medicine isn’t a career I chose — it’s the world I grew up in. My father was a vet; the stable and the consulting room were my kindergarten, and throughout my youth the profession and the people who sought it out were simply part of my life.
My grandparents and great-grandparents were the “animal doctors” of the region — back then with a lot of naturopathy, intuition and experience rather than the prescription pad. That heritage shapes how I work today: attentive, honest and with genuine interest in the animal and its people.
Why I founded VetKonsil
In daily practice I see how valuable a second, independent assessment can be — especially in complex or distressing cases. And too often I have seen owners confronted with a done deal, without anyone explaining the alternatives to them.
VetKonsil creates a clear, digital framework for exactly that: confidential, structured and honest. My aim is to consider every question individually and answer it transparently — so you have a real basis for your decision.
I see myself not as competition to the treating practice, but as a collegial complement — in the interest of the animal and the people responsible for it.

Privately I share my life with Pit, my German Shorthaired Pointer. With him I’m happiest out in nature or travelling — the best balance to work and a daily reminder of what it’s really about.
